By treating mice in different models, it was found that 5 months of UA treatment can improve the learning and memory abilities of AD mice, and reduce the levels of beta amyloid and tau proteins in the brains of mice.

Further analysis of the underlying mechanisms found that UA improved cellular lysosomal function, induced mitophagy to reverse dementia symptoms, and also reduced neuroinflammation in AD mice.

In addition, UA treatment can also increase the expression of Sirt1 and Sirt3 in the sirtuin protein family in mouse models, and the sirtuin protein family affects both aging and mitophagy, thereby further inducing mitophagy.
